The gifts that help us grow
This week we were gifted a tree, one grown from seed. It’s a sugar maple and stands about a foot tall, and when we plant it, it will be at the entryway to the driveway – a sentinel of greeting. Trees are symbolic of so much – Growth and resilience, endurance and strength, immortality, renewal, and the interconnectedness of all beings. It is an incredible gift that we are so grateful for. I have a number of tree items in my jewellery collection, and I wear them generously and often – such a great talisman for living a best life.
From Marmalade Designs out of Toronto we have the Family Tree framed charm: With shared roots and links to the past, tree branches remain connected as they reach towards the future.
This charm can be worn on a gold or silver chain.
From my studio here in Whistler, I have my version of the Tree of Life.
I made this piece early in my jewellery-making career, so to me it is symbolic of growth and change. It is available in sterling silver and 14k gold-plated brass.
Squamish’s Justine Brooks has her version of the tree of life in her Rooted Tree of Life earrings and necklace.
To her, they are symbolic of feeling safe, inspired, and at peace.
Lastly, I have chosen Black Drop Designs and all her beautiful renditions of trees, leaves, and flowers.
Her stunning photography is set in Resin to create lightweight, wearable pieces that speak to the renewal of our forests and our deep connection to them.
