As the seasons change, so does what we do with our day-to-day, our weekends, and our holidays. Now that we are fully in spring, what will you do with your time? Although skiing is still happening (until the May long weekend on Blackcomb), there are now a medley of choices - biking, gardening, hiking, paddling, and of course, spring cleaning! Spring chores for me are always a part of a balance between fun and just needing to get the job done, so I plan my day to get the chore(s) done early, then have the rest of the day to do… whatever! And now that the days are longer (and getting longer every day), there is much more time to enjoy the new season – after dinner rides or walks or even some garden time. Of course, the patios are happening, and Whistler has great patios for the ever-entertaining people watching. One of the great spring options here in Whistler is the Spring dining specials offered by most restaurants – a brilliant way to sample the best of Whistler at a fraction of the cost (for a listing of this spring’s specials, click here). Spring is the epitome of renewal, growth and balance, so let this be your guide. First on my list for highlights is the Trillion necklace by Vancouver’s Sarah Mulder. This beautiful triangle moonstone necklace is said to hold properties of stability, renewal and balance – a perfect sentiment for spring. Also representing spring-like sentiments is the Honeybee talisman by Pyrrha; this talisman features a honeybee encircled by a wreath of roses, symbolizing the significance of life and continuous growth. For spring, I am always thinking of trees as they start the blooming process, trees like the cherry trees that bloom early and are stunning to behold. Marmalade Designs out of Toronto has a wonderful tree charm called their “family tree”, representative of the shared roots we share with our families and our continuous growth together. Last on the list today are spring sneakers by Vionic – now that we are out of our winter boots, it is time to grant our feet freedom and comfort – the Pismo sneaker is the one!
