If you have not been able to tell by the weather, we are
now officially in the fall season. Walking through the Whistler
Village yesterday, I noticed the leaves are beginning to change, with
summer's last blast surging through the foliage. Along with fall
settling in this week is the upcoming Nation Truth and Reconciliation
Day – September 30th. It is fantastic that we have chosen a day of
the year to focus on this very important issue, but honestly, it needs
to be in conversation every day of the year. In Whistler, there
will be a full schedule of free events held at the Squamish Lil’wat
Cultural Centre - for a list of events click here and
if you wish to learn more about how to engage in Truth and
Reconciliation – click here. In
the words of Marie Wilson on reconciliation “It’s not going to be fast
and it is not going to be easy, but it’s going to be rich and uplifting
for us all”.
For my highlights this week, it is fitting that I talk about Silver
Eagles and their incredible works of wearable
art. Silver Eagles is a collection of North West Coast First
Nations jewellery made by Nancy Dawson and Vincent Henson. Nancy is
from the Kwaguilth Nation and Vincent is from the Kwa Kwa K'Wak
Nation. They live in Victoria, British Columbia. Vincent is Nancy's
nephew and she is passing along her knowledge and skill of crafting
silver First Nations jewellery. I thought the Eagle
collection was most fitting since it represents not
only strength and courage but also peace and friendship. I have
also chosen the Wisdom
Collection by Treeline
Collective as a reminder for all of us to show wisdom in
all our choices and how we interact with others. New in stock this
week are our heated
puffer jackets to keep you warm through the changing
season and to set you up for success for the coming winter. And
lastly, to add some style to your fall fashion we have our long striped
(super cozy) cardigan
(yes it has pockets!)
With the change in season, our in-store hours are also changing
starting on Sunday from to:
10 am - 6 pm
Sunday to Thursday
10 am - 7
pm Friday & Saturday
And if you can't make it here in person this week, you can still shop
all of our new arrivals, jewellery, handbags, shoes, gifts,
sales, & more by visiting our website anytime. |
