I looked up the definition of “silly” and found what I expected: “showing lack of common sense, absurd and foolish”. Sure, you can’t argue with that BUT, I find that a certain level of silliness in one’s life is a bonus. Life is just too darn serious that the injection of “absurd and foolish” lightens the load. My partner and I have an ongoing “argument” over who would be the better military tank driver – definitely not based on common sense and for sure absurd and foolish; it has, however, brought hours of easy entertainment and laughter. Any reason to have side-splitting laughter is A-okay to me, and if being silly is the catalyst – bring it on. Now, of course, moderation is the key and knowing your audience is imperative, but being a bit ridiculous at times is cathartic and offers the release of stress. As I have always said, if it brings you joy – do it!
