Hiking for health

Next to taking 10 deep breaths, going for a walk is a great way to get to a place of calm. Because walking does not require a lot of thinking, it is a great time to release all thoughts from your day and your concerns and just focus on your environment (whatever that environment be). If you are fortunate to have access to the great outdoors, I recommend that as your walking destination. A path of any kind will do, but one with few human distractions is best – in other words, off the city streets. Listen to the sounds around you (leaves rustling, squirrels chattering, rivers gurgling). Take in your surroundings and take an internal snapshot, one that you can carry with you and retrieve as a memory when calm is needed and an outdoor hike is not available. There is an immense benefit to taking outdoor walks daily, for mind, body, and soul – and it’s free!


With much cooler temperatures in the air, may I suggest getting cozy with one of our plaid Shackets? So soft to the touch and so cozy to wear.
