Valentine's Day is coming up fast (16 sleeps), and I believe it is a day worth celebrating. We live in troubling times where greed and power dominate the headlines, and it can be overwhelming. It’s time to bring the focus in and examine where we can make a difference. It goes without saying that if there were more Love in the world, it would be a better place. Valentine’s Day is the one day a year when love is in focus and celebrated. Let’s take this opportunity and pour all the Love we can into the world and have it make a difference. Wake up in the morning and Love the day, Love the people around you, and most of all, Love yourself.
Highlights this week are love-related – things that speak love to me. Pemberton’s Mana designs has created the For the Love of Love earrings and necklace set – laser cut out of walnut, these adorable, lightweight pieces are precious. Equally precious are the Love token necklaces by Vancouver’s Leah Alexandra. Tastefully petite, these pieces are based on Rosemonde Gerard’s 19th-century French poem with the French sentiment "qu'hier – que demain." It is a symbol of growing love, which translates from the poem’s French verse meaning “I love you more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.” Whether an expression of self-love, romance, or friendship, this pendant is as meaningful as it is franco-chic. And of course, Pyrrha always has an appropriate talisman – this week I have chosen the You Live in My Heart talisman, which is the ultimate expression of love. The ribbon-wrapped heart featured on this talisman reads 'You Live in My Heart’; it tells our loved ones that even when they aren't physically present, we carry them with us. Lastly, today we have our weekly stack, which features the 14k gold Vermeil Wisdom (tree) necklace by Squamish-based Treeline Collective. Trees teach us that there is power in stillness and remind us to stay grounded in moments of chaos – what’s not to love about that?
