Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and we have lots to celebrate! Despite the actions of our neighbour to the South, Canadians are standing tall and proud. I know we all love our country so let this Valentine's Day be about that. We are Canadian and are damn proud of it. There is so much to love in our beautiful country whether that is our very distinct four seasons, our diversity in people, landscapes, and accents, our vast expanse of mountains, plains, lakes, and forests, and of course all of the Canadian-made and produced products. Ruby Tuesday is a Canadian-owned, operated, and distinctly Canadian shopping experience. I opened its doors in 2001 and have always focused on showcasing Canadian designers and producers. For this week’s highlights, I have chosen some of our Canadian designers. First up is Black Drop Designs from Vancouver Island. Jade has been incorporating her own photography into jewellery that she makes by hand. Her signature pendants and earrings are transparent, which brings the focus to the image. This simplicity throughout the Black Drop line is what makes the pieces so effective. Next, we have Local Whistler Designer Helen Chan of Lazy Maisie Creates. Helen focuses on Sterling silver and 14k gold fill to create her very wearable timeless pieces – my favourite has always been the Whistler cuff. Pyrrha from Vancouver, BC is one of Canada’s best-known jewellery brands. Inspired by antique wax seals, their sustainably handcrafted talismans are rich in symbolism and hold deep personal meaning for those who wear them. Lastly, we have the NexGrip winter boots, a Canadian Company out of Montreal, Quebec. NexGrip was born from a desire to create winter boots that combine elegance, safety, and warmth to face winter with style and confidence. Currently, we have a selection of NexGrip boots on sale.
