Last week my partner and I went out for
burgers. There is a certain pub in town that serves the best
burger and has the best patio – the people watching is
fantastic! It was a Saturday night so there was the usual parade
of stags and stagettes, which is always so entertaining. Since we
knew we wanted burgers we did not look at the menu and ordered swiftly
from our prompt and friendly server. The service was excellent,
the burgers were outstanding and the entertainment on the stroll did
not disappoint. The unexpected aspect of the evening was when we
got our bill and discovered that our burgers were $26 each – crazy!! Be
assured, I am in no way upset at the restaurant, I am only shocked at
what a restaurant needs to charge in order to stay in business. With
rising costs of food, transportation and staffing, restaurants are all
needing to raise their prices to survive. Of course it is not just
restaurants that have raised prices - everything seems to have gone up
in price. So now is the time to buy with care.
Since Ruby Tuesday’s debut on the Whistler retail stage, we have been
focused on affordable quality products from local designers. Most
of our jewellery designers are Canadian and many are local to BC and
the Sea-to-Sky Corridor (we do have some imported brands but I hope you
won’t hold that against me). Since birthdays are always around the
corner and Christmas is on the horizon, buying gifts is just part of
what we spend our money on. I am so very grateful for the support of
everyone who has shopped with us and so are our local designers who
benefit from that same support.
