These days you have to watch where you are walking
through the Village for fear of tripping over all the Help wanted
signs. Whistler has long been a town where hiring staff is a
challenge but this year is proving more challenging than ever. I have
noticed more and more businesses existing with skeletal staff,
shortened hours, and in some cases closing altogether. It is dire
indeed! At Ruby Tuesday we are no exception. Currently, we
are in need of a manager or a full-time employee or a few part-time employees. Even
though I have learned to be flexible with scheduling and have increased
wages 50% over the last year and a half, our biggest hurdle is housing
- and not just housing
but affordable housing. Do you own a home in Whistler and perhaps
know someone who would love the opportunity to work at Ruby Tuesday for
the coming winter?? Or do you know someone who is wanting to
change up their current employment (and already has a place to
live)? Feel free to respond to this e-mail with suggestions,
comments, or questions.
Sticking with this theme, I have chosen the Nothing
is Impossible Talisman for one of my highlights this
week. To paraphrase, this talisman reminds us that with hard work
and determination we can accomplish anything (even
staffing). Other highlights this week include the Seva
Wallet from Matt & Nat in the new fall colours, the Chacal
sneakers for fall, and the Justine Brooks Rooted
Tree of Life necklace.
We're open this week in the Whistler village store on Sunday -
Thursday from 10am - 7pm and Friday and Saturday from
10am - 8pm. As usual, if you can't make it
here in-person you can still browse all of our new arrivals,
jewellery, handbags, footwear, housewares, gifts, sales, and more from
anywhere you are by shopping on our website! |
