I am so grateful that I live in Canada and call myself a Canadian and not just because of the relative peace and tranquility we enjoy as a nation but for so many reasons: I love that on the world stage we are important, but not that important; geographically I love our distinct four seasons and that we have mountains, oceans, fresh water, prairies, and northern lights; I love plaid shirts, hockey, the mighty moose and the beaver; I love Bob and Doug McKenzie; I love that around the world we are thought to be polite; and let’s not forget about poutine, maple syrup, butter tarts and tourtiere! I love our flag for its simplicity and uniqueness, and I love our people.
July 1st is our opportunity to be openly thrilled to live in this magnificent country and to celebrate its inclusiveness and its diversity, its vastness and its communities, and above all, our freedom.
I am proud to be a Canadian, and I hope you are too.
For this week's highlights, I thought a pair of maple leaf earrings would be appropriate – available in silver and gold, these cubic zirconia beauties will shine forth your Canadian Spirit.
