You may or may not be aware that the forest fire in Squamish is now “under control” – this means that although it is still smouldering, it is no longer growing in size or burning out of control. This is due in no small part to the heroic efforts of firefighters, ground and air. They have been tirelessly fighting this blaze for over a week, and their efforts are paying off. It is with deep-felt gratitude that we say “Thank you”. BC is all about the mountains and forest, which is why many of us live here and why so many people come here to visit – it is majestic! We are so very lucky to have BC as our backdrop to life. Our forests offer clean air, water, and space to enjoy nature, whether that be biking or hiking - as John Muir said, “of all of the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt”.
In celebration of forests and mountains, I thought I would highlight Black Drop Designs and Treeline Collective. Victoria-based Black Drop Designs focuses on tree imagery - each piece starts as a photo that she then sets in acrylic. The clear background highlights the designs and brings the image into focus. Squamish-based Treeline Collective has recently brought out a gold vermeil collection (14k gold plated over sterling silver). Her stunning nature based designs are exquisite, and her Summit Collection speaks to me this week. Justine Brooks (also from Squamish) has just added a turquoise bag option to her very popular belt bag collection – it comes with a matching strap or your can choose from her extensive strap collection to add pizazz to your summer style. Last on my list today are the Chacal sneakers – 100% leather with a zipper for easy on/off. Your feet will thank you.
