The Halloween tradition dates back to ancient Celtic
times when it was believed that the souls of the dead returned to their
homes, so people dressed in costumes and lit bonfires to ward off the
spirits – kinda creepy if you ask me. Modern-day, it is more
associated with dress up and fun – oh and candy!! It’s probably
the first time kids get to dress up so with the promise of free candy
they will wear anything their parents put them in (I remember a certain
pumpkin costume that all my siblings and I wore at some
point). It's always fun to see the changing trends of costumes
over the years; ghosts and goblins are a thing of the past, and now
kids dress as their favourite film, TV or Marvel characters. What
a great evening for them to go out and BE their favourite
character. I love the fact that this tradition has continued and
has evolved from one of fear to one of make-believe – long
live Halloween!
I was trying to think if we have anything Halloween-y at Ruby Tuesday
and I came up with one of the new Talismans by Pyrrha – the Persist
talisman; It depicts a spider dangling from a banner.
Although spiders (at least for me) are creepy, this talisman reads “The
spider is symbolic of persistence and the power of manifestation.
Draped across the branch is a banner encouraging the wearer to “persist”
in the unwavering pursuit of their goals.” It has actually made me
look at spiders differently. As you know we have our new
