You only need to read a newspaper or listen to the radio
to be inundated with tragedies from around the world. Wars are
raging, democracies are struggling, and the environment is
burning. It is impossible for this not to affect us in a profound
way. Although life offers much joy and happiness, it is hard
sometimes. It is tough enough handling our daily trials and
tribulations, whether that be financial, family-related, or the
struggle to find a work/life balance, that the added strain of the
world situation can be untenable. If you are struggling with
anxiety, you are not alone and I think the state of global affairs is a
significant contributor. It may not be forefront in your mind but
it is a constant and relentless reminder that nothing is
forever. It’s time to focus your energy on what is important to
you and your family and triage your thoughts/anxieties so that you can
affect change where you can. I am certainly not saying we should
ignore the global struggles, just to recognize where and how you can
help, where you can’t, and to understand the difference.
