For those of us living in BC, we are all too familiar
with June-uary – not quite summer, much like winter. Just 3 weeks
ago we had snow in Whistler! It has been a very wet and chilly
month to date with more wet on the way. It is a reminder that we
live in a rainforest and for most of us, we chose to live
here. British Columbia is not the place where you cancel your
outdoor plans because it rains – you prepare for it to rain. As a
result of the precipitation here, we have lush forests, vibrant parks and
arguably the best skiing anywhere. Drought is not usually an
issue!
One of my favourite quotes is “Life is not about waiting for the storm
to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain” (Vivian
Green). Such a good sentiment for life, because life can be hard
and it teaches us to take those tough days in stride.
For our highlights this week, I have singled out my Tree of Life pendant as well as the Vite Talisman by Pyrrha which means
Life, creativity and community. I have also highlighted some great
June footwear, Taos sneakers for their comfort and
the brightly coloured Biotime rubber boots to get you though
those rainy days.
Last week I said that I would be donating a percentage of sales from
our First Nations Design team Nancy Dawson and Vincent Henson of Silver
Eagles to the Kuu-us Crisis line Society. I
have made a $500 donation. Not that this makes anything right, but it
feels like a good place to start.
