| This weekend is the Labour Day Long weekend; this longtime
holiday weekend was started back in the 1800s after protests regarding the
working day/week. As a result, there was a plan hatched to have the day
grouped into segments of 8 hours - 8 hours of work, 8 hours of leisure and 8
hours of rest. A very worthy plan indeed and the very best of the
“work-life balance”. When you realize how much of our lives we spend
working (even when well-balanced) I think it is fitting that there be a holiday
to not only acknowledge the work we do but to celebrate it. What
you do for “work” may not be a job you get paid for but it is work just the
same. This weekend, take some time and reflect on your contribution to your
family, friends, workplace, and home and feel good about it. It’s also a
great time to recognize what others bring to the table that adds to your
well-being and happiness. Basically, let’s have a great weekend of
thankful giving and receiving; life can be hard so these days of gratitude go
far. Labour Day is also a time that marks the end of summer holidays and hand in hand with the end of the holiday season are sales! We have all of our summer sneakers and sandals on sale!
