Winter is certainly in full swing here in Whistler – with over 20cm of new snow in the village it looks like an absolute winter wonderland!
It’s time to put on your oversized sweater, grab your most adorable hat, scarf, and mitten set, then go play in the snow. You may want to go ice skating at the Olympic plaza or on your local frozen lake, snow tubing at the Whistler Tube Park or your local hill, or just enjoy a cup of hot chocolate from a nearby coffee shop. And if you want to dress the part, put on your warmest oversized sweater and then accessorize with some of these new winter jewellery trends:
1) Oversized Earrings
The largest circle in the Loop Clusters Post earrings measures 1.5″ in diameter. The Svelte D Earring is 2″ long and 1″ wide. The Ovi Post part of the earring measures 3/16 X 7/16″ and the disk is 1 1/8″ in diameter. This new innovative earring is designed so the disk part sits behind the ear lobe. The 2 versions available are 10K plated brass with a matte black disk and rhodium plated brass with a matte black disk.
2) Layered Necklaces
The length of the necklace depends on how you wear both of the layered necklaces by Pursuits. Both necklaces are made of brass with 10k gold and Rhodium plating. The Hollow Orb measures 3/4″ X 3/4″ while the Twizzling Quad is 1/2″ X 3/4″. The Electa Choker is a modern 3-in-1 convertible style necklace that can be worn layered together (as shown in photo) or you can choose to wear two necklaces together or the fringe choker on its own. There are clasps on each layer of the necklace, enabling maximum interchangeability!
3) Natural Inspiration
The super cute pinecone earrings are really tiny, with the charm measuring only 1 cm! They are made of bronze with silver plating on sterling silver hooks. The Fiddlehead Fern pendant is another really adorable nature inspired piece. The fern has an ancient history and grows in abundance on the west coast of Canada. It is believed that ferns can bring rain, protection, luck, prosperity, eternal youth, health, and confidence. Many think of the fiddlehead/fern as symbol of regrowth, birth, transformation, and renewal. Justine’s neighbourhood backs onto Garabaldi Park which is mecca of ferns and fiddleheads. On daily hikes & walks one could not help but be inspired by the lush green plant which rejuvenates each year. The pendant is hand carved with wax and it is double sided to feature both the fern and fiddlehead.
4) Cuff Bracelets
These sterling silver first nations bracelet cuffs are all hand carved. Available in the Wolf, Bear, Hummingbird and Eagle designs on either a 1/2 or 1/4 inch wide sterling silver cuff.
